Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the money go?
All money raised during the Freedom Walk will be processed through the Five With Drive Foundation (5WD), a charity registered under the Canada Revenue Agency. The money will then be distributed to the Canadian Crime Victim Foundation.
How much of the proceeds are used for "Administrative Costs?
Traditionally the 5WD Foundation and the CCVF operate with very low overhead costs. Our goal in organizing Freedom Walk is to keep the overhead down through the generous contribution of corporate sponsorships. We anticipate no more than 17% of the proceeds will be used to cover costs of the event itself.
How do my donations help?
Monetary donations help to keep the overhead costs of the event down. The less we spend on planning and organizing, the more we can donate to the cause!
How can I help or get involved?
There are a number of ways that you can help or get involved. You might consider hosting a 3rd party fundraising event, or assist us in the planning of a speaking engagement at your school, or take us out to your favourite restaurant upon arrival in your town!
Can I join the walk?
We are currently looking into the logistics of allowing people to join us along certain legs of the journey. We may use this opportunity to raise additional funds whereby participants will have to pay a registration fee and sign a waiver like any other road race.
